Customer in the spotlight: Arne Hellemans
Arne Hellemans is a graphic designer with a heart for brand design: he supports brands in the development of their visual identity and all further communication. We first met him about a year ago. When he came knocking with TAO, his first project as an independent. We have been working together regularly ever since. A short conversation!
Hi Arne, tell a little more about what exactly you do?
Arne Hellemans: “Actually, I have only been self-employed for a good year. Before that, I worked in advertising for about fifteen years as an art director and creative director. An interesting world, but my real passion lies in the creation of brands. As a brand designer, you contribute to the essence of a company. You have an impact on how a brand thinks and behaves. I find it fascinating to unravel the story of an organization, shape it further and translate it visually.”
How did you end up at Buroform?
Arne Hellemans: “One of my first clients was TAO, an architectural firm from Antwerp for whom I was asked to develop the new brand identity. An important aspect in their story is the choice for natural materials that are left in place as much as possible. This idea is strongly reflected in the branding and I also wanted to see it reflected in the printed matter. I used Instagram to look for printing companies that could offer something extra. That’s how I ended up at Buroform pretty quickly. A number of designers that I follow myself turned out to regularly work with you guys. That’s why I contacted them myself.”

How important is a good printer to you?
Arne Hellemans: “I believe very much in specialization and like to be assisted by people with a clear expertise. At Buroform I find that support and knowledge. It is nice to work with people who make time for you to give advice and tips. In the printing world, that is rather exceptional. I think that the relationship between designers and printers is not easy anyway. Very often the result deviates from what you have in mind as a designer. This is not the case with Buroform, quite the contrary. I have always been tremendously surprised so far: the printed matter approaches the ideal image I had in mind, and that is really strong.”
