When Samuel Vanhoegaerden releases an art book, it is always allowed to be something more. Just last year, the Knokke-based gallerist surprised with the Codex Panamarenko. This time he focuses on the oeuvre of James Ensor, another Belgian great.

We chose a red linen hardcover with the title printed on it in foil: simple, but extremely sophisticated. Around it was folded a wrapper showing a work by Ensor himself. A matching case completes the picture: the perfect protective cover that also gives the book that touch of exclusivity.

The luxurious atmosphere of the cover gets an extension in the interior as well. The choice of a matte paper is obvious, as it reads very easily and brings that touch of extra finesse that this book calls for. In addition, the paper is extremely white. Thus, the drawings and artwork get all the attention and the colors really splash off the page.
