Buitengewoon
Carolle Servayge
art book
Buitengewoon is Carolle Servayge’s debut novel and a plea for self-acceptance and positivism. The book brings together photographs and stories of people with special external features, challenging today’s stereotypical ideals of beauty. Carolle started the project on social media, where she gradually connected with more and more people. She then interviewed and portrayed them all. The result is pure photography, without photoshop, where people who remain unjustly invisible are finally given a face.
Carolle Servayge is a 25-year-old freelance photographer from Brussels. An important focus in her work is on emotion and humanity, which she looks for mainly in scenes from everyday life. Characteristic of her photographs is an edgy edge and a great sense of experimentation. For example, she has a notable passion for analog photography. Aestheticism, colors and nature are important aspects within her work.
