Codex Panamarenko

Samuel Vanhoegaerden Gallery

With barely three hundred copies, the book can safely be called a rare collector’s item. It has 160 pages and is divided into six chapters with hundreds of drawings and dozens of manuscripts. The cover was given a leather cover, finished with silver foil and letterpress, creating an aluminum-like effect. In this way, it has an almost mechanical look that perfectly fits the artist’s lifestyle. The paper is matte, slightly heavier and given extra volume by a coarser grain, referring to a drawing sheet.

About Paper
The Corvon Metal X collection has dramatic and visual appeal. This unique paper has a rich and glossy quality due to its excellent tear and internal strength. Its excellent flexibility makes it suitable for packaging and book covers. It is also perfectly usable for decoration such as foil printing or letterpress.

“Every element in the design of the book has been a very conscious, specific choice,” Vanhoegaerden says. “The cover, the paper, the font. The book breathes Panamarenko. I wanted something special, yet typical of the artist’s vision and style. Panamarenko’s works are often as technical as they are artistic. That intertwining of art and technique also had to be reflected in the look and feel of the book. Buroform did a wonderful job here. The book and by extension the work of Panamarenko is given an extra dimension by all these specific design choices.”
