Lunch Garden

Menu card Bistro Koetshuis (Bokrijk)

Tasted and liked: menu card Bistro Koetshuis

Earlier this year, Lunch Garden took over the bistro in Bokrijk, resulting in a complete makeover. We ourselves sink our teeth into finishing the menu, paying close attention to the estate’s ecological philosophy.

Bistro Koetshuis is located just before the entrance to the Bokrijk Open Air Museum. Every aspect of the renovated eatery has been influenced by the craftsmanship of the estate. For example, the decor largely harkens back to materials from the region, while almost half of the dishes are inspired by ingredients and specialties from local producers. The design of the menu goes along with that philosophy. Honest, mostly recycled materials are at the heart of the concept, which we conceived and executed together with Lunch Garden’s graphic team.

The menu finds its character and ecological added value in very specific paper choices.

Details

Bokrijk stands for craft, authenticity and sustainability. The natural wealth of the estate was the great inspiration for the finishing touches of the menu. That rests on a thin 3mm board in birch plywood, into which the name of the restaurant is lasered. The map itself finds its character and ecological added value in very specific paper choices.

About Paper

The cover consists of Crush, an alternative paper with a surprisingly creative effect. It is made from organic fibers and coffee, and is produced using 100% renewable energy.

For the tabs inside, we chose Cocoa, uncoated paper that is allowed to come into contact with food products. Its composition is largely based on ground cocoa shells. The color palette is deep and warm and gives a very contemporary look to the card.

For the interior the choice fell on Environment Birch, a 100% recycled paper with FSC® recycled certification and also already produced from renewable energy. The light pattern subtly references the softly speckled bark of the birch tree that underlies the manufacturing process.
