Sometimes you have so much knowledge in your head that one consultation is not enough to share it all. That’s how it felt for Nele Timmerman, dietitian, orthomolecular therapist and kPNI therapist in training. She guides people towards more energy and health by teaching them to feel what nutrition can really do, without rigid diets or strict rules. This drive led to her first hardcover book: “Gezond zonder grenzen” (Healthy without limits). At Buroform, we assist authors and professionals with printing and publishing their books.
We spoke to Nele about her motivation and the creative process behind “Gezond zonder Grenzen”.
‘In my practice, I was asked almost daily for recipes that matched the advice I gave. I noticed that people want to change, but often get stuck because they don’t know how to start. That inspired me to create something that could support them at any time, outside of consultations. “Healthy without limits” is my way of bundling knowledge so that it is within reach on busy days.’
Nele: ‘I am fascinated by how nutrition affects the body, but also by the mental aspect. It’s not just about what you eat, but also about how you view food and yourself. I believe that gentle guidance and learning to listen to your body are key. My goal is to give people more resilience and confidence, so that they no longer have to live in fear or guilt around food.’
Nele: “It was an intense and educational journey. Everything was new to me and I just jumped in without any experience or publisher behind me. I took care of everything myself, which made the process even more special. I enjoyed working with a number of fantastic people: a photographer, a designer, a copywriter and, of course, Buroform as the printer.
There was much more to it than I thought: the content, the recipes, the structure, the layout… But it was precisely that puzzle that made it so personal. The book eventually found its place at Standaard Boekhandel, something I am genuinely proud of.
Nele: ‘Without a doubt! Working with Buroform was a breath of fresh air. The quality and finish of the printed matter is superb. The contact was personal and the level of commitment was high, which meant I didn’t have to worry about a lot of things. That gave me a great deal of peace of mind and confidence as a new author.’
Nele: ‘Holding the book in my hands for the first time and leafing through it, realising that everything that was in my head was now tangible, that was magical. But also the first messages from readers telling me how much they had gained from it, that it gave them the energy to cook healthier meals without stress, that still touches me.’
Nele: ‘Dare to take the leap. You don’t have to do everything on your own, and it doesn’t have to be perfect right away. Find people who understand your vision and can offer practical support. And above all, don’t forget to enjoy the process. It’s a unique journey that teaches you a lot about yourself and your mission.’
Creating a cookbook that is both inspiring and scientifically sound? That was the dream of Nele Timmerman, a dietitian and orthomolecular therapist in the making. In “Gezond zonder grenzen” (Healthy without limits), she shares her vision on nutrition, without strict diets, but with achievable and tasty recipes for every day.
