Hello! My name is Levin Van Uytven, and I have been working for Buroform as a digital printer for over six years now. I am also an avid cycling enthusiast.
‘I run the digital printing department. That means I operate and maintain our digital presses, such as the HP Indigo 7900, Versafire, 3D Varnish, iEcho, etc. I am responsible for all the digital machinery and everything that goes with it.’
‘During my training as a “digital print operator”, I did an internship at Michiels printing company. Not long after, Buroform took over the company and I joined the new venture.’
‘I cycle to work every morning. I wash down the ride with a glass of water and an oatmeal bar. Then I turn on Top Radio and the day can really begin.’
‘Many people assume that I just put the paper in the machine and press the buttons, but there’s much more to it than that. It’s a very technical job. I even do all the maintenance myself.’
‘Buroform has acquired several printing companies in recent years. Over time, all of those companies’ printing presses have been moved to Mechelen. When I was appointed head of the new digital department, I felt that was a great recognition of my work. I won’t forget that moment in a hurry.’
‘Without a doubt, the family atmosphere. The bond with my colleagues is fantastic. But also the freedom you get as an employee. I can work here in a very independent way, which gives me the feeling that I can tailor my job entirely to my own needs.’
‘I might have done something in the construction sector. I’m technically minded. Electrician, carpenter, floor layer or technical draughtsman for CNC machines: these are all jobs that appeal to me. But I’m very happy with my choice now. The graphic sector is a particularly interesting world with lots of possibilities. At Buroform, we also offer a very wide range of products, which means that my job is constantly varied.’
“On my bike, definitely. I’m a member of WTC De Rupeliaan, a cycling club that I ride with almost every Wednesday. But you’ll also often find me on my bike at the weekend. I also regularly go running at the clay pits of Niel, a beautiful nature reserve. Apart from sports, I like to have a pint with friends or enjoy a nice breakfast or lunch at the market in Antwerp.”
‘Steal with your eyes.’ If you keep a close eye on everything, you will learn a great deal. I also regularly attend courses and workshops. That way, you continue to learn and develop yourself. It is the best advice I have ever received. Otherwise, I would not be here today.
