HP Indigo 7900: more freedom for your printing

2 January 2020 /

Our printing company welcomes a new printing press, which is big news. The HP Indigo 7900 is a lightning-fast automated sheetfed press that enables us to deliver even more beautiful printed matter. What’s more, it allows us to further optimise the balance between price, delivery time, sustainability and quality, so that you receive even better service.

HP Indigo

You are familiar with inkjet printers. You probably have one on your desk. As a printing company, we go a few steps further with offset and digital presses. They print either via a light-sensitive plate or via a thick layer of ink on paper. Well, at the intersection of these three, you will find the latest addition to our machinery: the HP Indigo 7900. Thanks to dozens of innovations in software and hardware, this press produces the sharpest prints in the industry. Does it even match the quality of offset? We are inclined to say yes.

Highly accurate double-sided printing

What is it that makes us so excited about our latest acquisition? First of all, there is the registration: this printing press registers how much ink needs to be used and how often the paper needs to pass through the machine. Usually, several layers of ink are needed to bring out the colours perfectly. The paper then has to pass through the press several times. But paper also moves in the machine, which can prevent multiple layers of ink from blending together nicely. With the HP Indigo 7900, this is no longer the case. This printer works with grippers, just like an offset press. They ensure that each layer is printed with extreme precision: the paper always stays in exactly the same place, so that different layers of ink line up perfectly. Double-sided printing is therefore more accurate than ever before.

True-to-life PMS colours, even white

Thanks to the HP Indigo 7900, we are able to print any PMS colour you want. The colour range is wider than that of any offset printing press. The printer has seven ink stations instead of the standard four CMYK colours cyan, magenta, yellow and key. This allows us to produce up to 97% of PANTONE® colours. We can also reproduce these colours realistically in spot inks and one-shot inks, and everything can be done in a single operation. What’s more, the HP Indigo 7900 makes it possible to print premium white. The white ink is just as opaque as screen printing ink, which means that white will really be white. Do you prefer fluorescent, transparent, silver or invisible ink? The colour possibilities are endless.

Printing on any material

The HP Indigo 7900 uses liquid ink technology. Laser beams apply a thin layer of ink to the material being used and fix it in place. This leaves the structure of the substrate completely intact. Substrate? Yes, indeed, because we can print on more than just paper: canvas, cardboard, you name it. We also work with HP-certified paper, produced and tested to suit the press. An additional advantage is that the paper causes as little damage as possible to the machine itself, which increases its service life and reduces costs and maintenance.

Full automation

The HP Indigo 7900 is the most scalable, powerful print server in the industry that is fully committed to automation. Your product is handled entirely digitally, making the entire process much more efficient. Not only are delivery times shorter, but we are also able to keep production costs lower. The control programme automatically calculates which press is most cost-effective for your printing job. In addition, advanced colour automation ensures accurate and consistent colours in accordance with standards, saving time and money. Our Adobe software is also upgraded for multiple printing options. For example, you can combine different design elements or print different versions of a single image in one go.

Environmentally friendly and sustainable story

Sustainability is also an important factor. The HP Indigo 7900 has the Intertek Green Leaf Mark and is produced in a carbon-neutral manner. It also generates less waste, is energy efficient and offers a return programme for supplies. In this way, we are doing our bit for the environment.

This HP Indigo offers a world of new possibilities, close to home. Curious about what it can do for you? Connect with us and discover these innovations for yourself.
