Client in the spotlight: Arne Hellemans

Arne Hellemans is a graphic designer with a passion for brand design: he supports brands in developing their visual identity and all further communication. We first met him about a year ago when he approached us with TAO, his first project as a freelancer. Since then, we have been working together regularly. A brief conversation!

Hi Arne, could you tell us a bit more about what you do exactly?

Arne Hellemans: “I’ve actually only been self-employed for a year. Before that, I worked in advertising for about fifteen years as an art director and creative director. It’s an interesting world, but my real passion lies more in brand creation. As a brand designer, you contribute to the essence of a company. You have an impact on how a brand thinks and behaves. I find it fascinating to unravel the story of an organisation, shape it further and translate it visually.”

 
How did you end up at Buroform?

Arne Hellemans: “One of my first clients was TAO, an architectural firm in Antwerp, for whom I was asked to develop a new brand identity. An important aspect of their story is their choice of natural materials that are preserved as much as possible. That idea is strongly reflected in the branding, and I wanted to see it reflected in the printed matter as well. I searched Instagram for printing companies that could offer something extra. That’s how I quickly ended up at Buroform. A number of designers I follow myself turned out to work with you regularly. That’s why I contacted you myself.”

How important is a good printer to you?

Arne Hellemans: “I am a firm believer in specialisation and like to be assisted by people with clear expertise. At Buroform, I find that support and knowledge. It’s nice to work with people who are happy to make time for you to give advice and tips. In the printing world, that’s rather exceptional. I think the relationship between designers and printers is not always straightforward. Very often, the result differs from what you have in mind as a designer. At Buroform, that’s not the case, on the contrary. So far, I’ve always been very pleasantly surprised: the printed matter is close to the ideal image I had in mind, and that’s really impressive.”
