In Analogies in Architecture, author Peter Timmerman explores the subtle similarities between architectural masterpieces from different periods. From Le Corbusier to Guarini, from Zumthor to contemporary contemporaries: the book brings to life how forms, rhythms and ideas continue to resonate through time.
Paper as a supporting element
For this project, we deliberately chose Symbol Tatami White 135 gsm from Fedrigoni. This FSC-certified, double-sided coated paper combines a soft matt finish with high bulk. The choice of this paper is no coincidence: it offers the visual tranquillity and tactile quality that befits an architecture book, ensuring that images, text and white space remain in perfect balance.
The paper guarantees excellent performance in double-sided LE-UV offset printing, even at lighter weights. This meant that every detail – from line to texture – was reproduced with razor-sharp precision.
Design with structure
The cover was printed on 240 g/m² double-sided sulphate cardboard and fitted with two flaps – a classic, understated choice that fits in with the field. The finish is sewn binding, which makes the book durable and allows it to open perfectly.
This structure supports both the reading process and the content: it gives the reader space to reflect, see connections and experience architecture through paper.
