When Samuel Vanhoegaerden publishes an art book, it always has to be something special. Last year, the gallery owner from Knokke surprised us with the Codex Panamarenko. This time, he focuses on the oeuvre of James Ensor, another Belgian great.

We opted for a red linen hardcover with the title printed in foil: simple, yet extremely refined. Around it, we folded a wrapper featuring one of Ensor’s own works. A matching slipcase completes the picture: the perfect protective cover that also gives the book that extra touch of exclusivity.
The luxurious feel of the cover is also reflected in the interior. The choice of matt paper is obvious, as it is very easy to read and adds that extra touch of finesse that this book demands. What’s more, the paper is extremely white. This allows the drawings and works of art to take centre stage, with the colours really popping off the page.
